CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise excellence in the writing, production and effectiveness of a single commercial or jingle.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
This award celebrates a great idea that has been beautifully executed and that uses the medium of radio in a unique, innovative, effective and engaging manner and with results for the client.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

AUDIO

  • Only a commercial/jingle that has been broadcast, with client approval and payment, in the twelve month period covered by these awards can be entered.
  • Must include the entire commercial/jingle as broadcast.

WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION 
Written submission of no more than 200 words. 

JUDGING CRITERIA

A - 25 POINTS | CREATIVE CONCEPT
Originality of idea, script writing, best use of radio in a unique, innovative, effective & engaging manner.

B - 25 POINTS | TECHNICAL PRODUCTION / EXECUTION
Acting/performance, skilful use of music & sound design.

BEST COMMERCIAL CAMPAIGN

CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise creative and effective excellence in the writing and production of two or more linked commercials/jingles devised as a strategic campaign.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
This award is for campaigns that celebrate a great idea and uses the medium of radio in a unique, innovative and engaging manner. It must also have proven results for the client in terms of awareness, client enquiries or actual sales.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 

AUDIO

Only commercials or jingles that have been broadcast, with client approval and payment, in the twelve month period covered by these awards can be entered. Must include the entire commercials or jingles as broadcast.

WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION

Maximum of 200 words.

A letter of support from the client must be included outlining the objectives and outcomes of the campaign. Evidence of results is mandatory. These must be directly attributable to the campaign and must relate to the objectives set. We are looking for hard business measures such as sales, leads, website visits, increased revenue or market share. Anecdotal evidence or indirectly attributable results will be marked down.

JUDGING CRITERIA

A - 20 POINTS | CREATIVE CONCEPT
Originality of idea, script writing, memorability and recall.
B - 10 POINTS | TECHNICAL PRODUCTION / EXECUTION
Acting/voicing, skilful use of music, sound design and showcasing style consistent with network/station format.
C - 20 POINTS | PROOF OF EFFECTIVENESS
Evidence of results.

SALES TEAM OF THE YEAR

CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise excellence in radio revenue generation across network, regional and provincial stations and in particular the achievement of client objectives, excellence in client servicing and promoting the medium.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
This award is made to the sales team that has made an outstanding contribution in revenue generation and the development of client relations during the year. 'Sales Team' is defined as All Direct, All Agency, Direct by market and Agency by market (the latter two must have boots on the ground). 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entries must include:
1. Maximum of 500 words. This should include responses to C & D in the judging criteria below. 

2. Online Revenue Spreadsheet - Click here to download the online revenue spreadsheet. Revenue figures supplied are for radio bookings only i.e. a combination of digital radio and terrestrial radio as per advertising industry revenue reporting standards. Revenue must relate to radio dollars and radio campaigns only.

3. An affidavit from the manager confirming performance as outlined in entry spreadsheet.

4. A maximum of 4 testimonials, letters or affidavits of support from clients.

JUDGING CRITERIA

A - 20 POINTS | % radio revenue growth YoY 2023/24.

B - 15 POINTS | % total active clients YoY 2023/24.

C - 10 POINTS | Strategic objectives of the team for the year and how they were delivered to produce exceptional customer experience & outcomes. 

D - 10 POINTS | How you promoted and championed audio as a medium in the market, including innovation and creativity.

C - 5 POINTS | Testimonials, letters or affidavits of support from clients.

BEST CLIENT PROMOTION/ACTIVATION

CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise excellence in radio promotions for clients that make the most effective and creative use of radio and/or your other platforms.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an idea or concept that generates significant audience engagement and delivers results for a client in response to a client brief. This campaign may utilise several media and the range of platforms that your radio brand uses. A promotion may be entered in Best Client Promotion/Activation or Best Network Station Promotion, but not both.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

AUDIO
Maximum 5 minutes, which must contain audio elements of the promotion idea including trailers, adlibs, execution elements and audience participation and interaction.

WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION
Written material (maximum 200 words) must include details of the idea or campaign, including objectives, background and context of the concept. 

A letter of support from the client must also be included outlining the objectives and outcomes of the promotion such as sales, leads, website visits, increased revenue or market share. Failure to provide this evidence will automatically disqualify the entry. No pro-bono work will be accepted.

A video can be submitted for this category, but a link must be provided. No uploads are accepted. Duration is to be no longer than 5 minutes. Video needs to relate directly to the promotion at the time it was aired. This could be in the form of any TV coverage, footage loaded onto YouTube, evidence of street activation etc. It is not to be filmed specifically for your radio awards entry. Edited highlights videos can be created for your radio award entry, but any filmed footage included in them must be from the original and not re-created.

Evidence of results from the client.

BEST MARKETING CAMPAIGN

CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise excellence in marketing a single radio station or network.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a marketing or branding campaign that generates significant audience engagement and delivers results. This award is designed to showcase a radio brand that includes the marketing campaign for a promotion, show or podcast and can include trade marketing.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

WRITTEN DEMONSTRATION
Written material (maximum 200 words) must include details of the idea or campaign, including objectives, background and context of the concept, plus any supporting print material or digital components (optional). 

Audio can be submitted with the entry (optional) - maximim 5 minutes.

A video can be submitted for this category, but a link must be provided. No uploads are accepted. Duration is to be no longer than 5 minutes. Video needs to relate directly to the marketing campaign. It is not to be filmed specifically for your entry. Edited highlights videos can be created for your radio award entry, but any filmed footage included in them must be from the original and not re-created.

Evidence of results is mandatory. These must be directly attributable to this campaign and must relate to the objectives set. We are looking for evidence such as ratings, likes, shares, or any other recognised ratings to demonstrate success.

BEST SPONSORSHIP OR PARTNERSHIP

CATEGORY OBJECTIVE
To recognise excellence in radio sponsorships or partnerships that deliver outstanding results for the radio brand(s) and the partner, effectively using radio and/or your other platforms.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a sponsorship or partnership that through targeted brand alignment, clever leveraging and creative use of the medium, drives audience engagement to deliver successful outcomes for partners. The term of the sponsorship must exceed 3 months. There is no minimum term for partnerships.

DEFINITIONS

Sponsorship - a sponsorship agreement between an advertiser and a radio brand/show/podcast. To be eligible, sponsorships must exceed a 3 month period.

Partnerhsip - An official partnership arrangement between a radio network/station and an external entity, entered into for the purpose of both parties achieving return on investment and business goals.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

AUDIO
Maximum 5 minutes, which must contain audio elements of the sponsorship or partnership including trailers, adlibs, podcasts, execution elements and audience participation and interaction.

D - 20 POINTS | PROOF OF EFFECTIVENESS
Evidence of objectives having been achieved and results from the client or promoter.
